Ancient bested CR4ZY 2-1 in the group B decider match of DreamHack Open Summer, securing a spot in the playoffs.

CR4ZY kicked off the final series of the day with a convincing T side on the first map, Train. Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač opened the first pistol with a spectacular triple kill and following a second-round upset, the Serbian-majority squad proceeded to gain momentum and developed a healthy economy off the back of a 9-1 lead. The tables turned towards the latter portion of the half, as Ancient stabilised, softening the halftime blow with five consecutive rounds to their name.

freddieb's performance on Nuke ensured Ancient's success

The European mix's defence saw further domination as the leaders rolled over their Swedish adversaries with ease, closing Train 16-6 following a consecutive pistol round victory followed by seven additional rounds.

Inferno followed, as did CR4ZY's solid CT performance. A third pistol round victory, featuring a triple kill from Rokas "EspiranTo" Milasauskas, further propelled an already fired up squad, and despite Fredrik "freddieb" Buö and company taking their first rifle round, the Swedes' momentum saw no longevity, meaning a gradually developing lead for CR4ZY. Ancient were subsequently able to effectively breach sites, allowing for a total of six rounds prior to switching sides.

EspiranTo topped the scoreboard on Train with a 2.10 rating

The concluding half of Inferno saw William "draken" Sundin open affairs up with a USP triple kill, in addition to a 3v5 clutch conversion, but once more the Swedes failed to keep the ball rolling, conceding the reins to CR4ZY. Affairs were looking dire for the Swedish camp, as the Ts managed to accrue septuple map and series point, but, against the odds, the local representatives managed to come back, taking Inferno into overtime.

The first overtime saw the two sides exchange 2-1 T halves, meanwhile in OT2, Ancient were finally able to grind their opponents out, extending their series life with a close 22-20 score.

Plopski spearheaded the comeback on Inferno with a 1.29 rating

Nuke was the concluding map of the series, witnessing yet another solid start from CR4ZY, who secured a four-round lead off the bat. After finances had leveled, Ancient slowly steered the advantage their way, and subsequently managed to shatter the T economy, producing an 8-7 advantage going into the latter half.

A productive T-side pistol for the Swedes assisted the team in leaping towards a more significant lead. Rifles in hand, CR4ZY were able to accrue two back-to-back rounds, shortly followed by more progress from Ancient, who made their way to a 14-9 surplus, looking to close out. But a single additional round was landed by the Serbian-majority roster, meanwhile, two went in the way of the Swedes, seeing to a 16-10 conclusion and a spectacular comeback for Ancient.
